All great points. Unfortunately as with so many projects in the corporate world, it is an opportunity for people to gain power, as most people don't care about doing what makes sense for the company. It's not so much that they actively and purposely don't care, it's just not in their mindset to do so. They are uber geeks, who haven't a clue how to run a business and scale it while maintaining quality and compliance.
And most of our senior managers are too ignorant to know how to do this properly. But I'm managing it by holding people accountable for results, and I'm fighting them constantly, but fortunately I have several VP's behind me - Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit. So we'll see.
