And the taxi drivers are suffering too, especially those who bought a medallion which is with probably worth less than 1/3 vs 5 years ago. Taxi drivers are more familiar with traffic patterns at peak times, so I prefer to use them sometimes. But their Flywheel service sucks because prob they can’t afford to improve it because they have to provide employee benefits.

And there is more traffic in SF because most of the taxis and Uber/Lyft cars are empty. An inefficiency of capital, human time, and traffic is happening here, the cost not being incurred by the unicorns…not to mention fuel and pollution. I don’t think Lyft/Uber has any skin in the game if their drivers cars are empty most of the time. Some of them wait for hours to get a single $8 fare.
