Both extremes suck. One thing Nixon said after he resigned that is true is that when politicians behave the way they do, they destroy it for so many other people who would otherwise have gone into government services. Not to mention destroying trust for the voters. The bad karma these fuck face politicians create is beyond measure.

I was a lobbyist, it’s a shit show. But the truth is, it’s our own fault for spending most of our time acting like children engaging in stupid TV shows and engaging in similar drama that the politician dish out to us to distract us. And they are laughing at how stupid we are.
