But it is the fault of the average citizen that they prefer to watch stupid TV shows and gossip endlessly about pop culture instead of being an INFORMED and ENGAGED citizen. I used to be a lobbyist, and lobbyists laugh at the average citizen who is not informed and not engaged and expects their government officials to “do the right thing” while the rest of us sit by and complain and watch from the sidelines.

I have personal experience with this, when I was a green energy lobbyist, not a single average citizen I engaged with had any interest whatsoever in the details of green energy and supporting it in any way other than blabbing at a cocktail party how much they “care”.
