I agree, and sometimes you have to vent. I’ve usually am very positive and I’ve tried over and over to connect in a positive way. I’ve written songs that cover topics that we all can agree on, and use humor. But it makes no difference to many of these people. They are dug in. Educating people about our common enemy and how we are being manipulated by the likes of Putin might get through to some of them.
It’s an odds game. You try different tactics to get through to people. Sometimes you directly try to be positive and other times you try to inspire people on the edge. Pointing out a common enemy will work with many people. And I’ve done this using music videos and humor,
I work in the area of cyber security (I’m in charge of cyber security for $2 billion company), and asking people nicely and using logic doesn’t work on a lot of people. Usually you have to state the threat clearly and bluntly and hold people accountable publicly and you have to be harsh. I’ve tried it both ways. Being a cyber security professional has more in common with being a cop or FBI agent than been an engineer. Politics is different, but the principles are not necessarily always different.
