I agree to some extent...but I see way too many people using that as an excuse to essentially promote themselves riding off the wave of someone who should not be getting any attention. If you look at the various stories of reprehensible people on the Internet, I would anecdotally estimate that in approximately 90% of the cases, these people would be irrelevant and invisible if people just didn't talk about them. We are doing exactly what they want us to do, talking about them. And the social media platforms love the churn because it gives them more eyeballs and advertising time to sell.

Also the more we write about this, the more this depresses and demotivates young people. Sure, you want them to be aware of it to some exact, but at some point, just say no and don't do it.

People already know that there are reprehensible assholes out there. And many of them are preachers. We don't need to be constantly reminded of that. So unless there is something very unique about this person that is important for people to know (e.g. a new grift, somebody that is infiltrating social media in a big way), best to ignore them and let their fame die on the vine.

Don't make stupid, talentless, obnoxious and evil people famous.

But I understand how irresistible it is to talk about such people.
