I got into a nasty spat yesterday with a trans woman who had a very narrow definition of trans. She claimed I wasn’t trans, she told me I was a vile person claiming I was trans. Perhaps non-binary would be a better term….because it’s more broad? Well, these definitions are evolving, and if she had not been so nasty we might have had an interesting conversation. I think in her case, she was in so much trauma, that she couldn’t.
I identity as trans, non-binary, and straight. That bothers a lot of people. I want to remind them, that how I identify isn’t about them, but it is, because it’s about all of us connecting with each other and having terminology that doesn’t divide us.
But I think it’s the person who may choose division, perhaps because they are struggling for identity and also to find sisters/brothers.
Using non- binary may help as a starter as it’s very broad. But then again, some people just want to fight and/or just want to be right.
Oh..so sad that we often fight with strangers who are just trying express themselves while want to learn about other people and our similarities and differences.
