I had two choices in life (given where I grew up / lived)
1) Be a straight man who in order to find a female partner had to comprise just about everything that was important to me (eg expressing myself, being creative and fun, having deep connections with a partner )
2) Be trans and immune from the box straight culture puts us into.

Fortunately I was able to choose the latter.
