I learned the most useful subjects on my own by reading and playing around with things at home (electronics, writing code, playing music, learning how to form a band, etc). The biggest gap for me was learning how to coordinate with people to an objective and emotional intelligence.

Schools have utterly failed to provide a good education, because they are designed around easily measurable objectives (eg grades, test results, getting into Ivy League schools, sports performances) and this works well for the moron politicians and can easily be sold to a population which has been duped by said moron politician. And this works well for the corporate powers who love programming people like robots so they can use, abuse and control people.
