I put A LOT of effort into this over many years, profiling interesting people and events in San Francisco, spent untold number of hours over many years editing high quality videos (affecting my income) and didn’t get anywhere close to having sustainable success.

So although it’s true you need to put in the effort, there is an enormous amount of luck and also probably focusing on material that for example will appeal to teenagers, twenty-somethings, and advertisers.
