I was an environmental lobbyist:
1) Politicians are too stupid to know what to do (it requires an understanding of science / engineering, risk management, organizing, etc) . They can’t tell the difference between shit from shinola
2) The vast majority of people will NOT lift one finger to support activists, despite what they say on social media. Saving the environment is complicated (lots of confusing science and it’s not clear what to do), and requires a massive commitment of time and energy.
3) The few activists are hopeless disorganized and idealistic, they don’t know the difference between shit vs shinola
4) Its an old topic and doesn’t excite people for election platforms. Much easier to focus on culture wars. And that’s what people respond to because very few can tell the difference between shit from shinola
5) There is no money in it for lobbyists and politics. Who is going to fund saving earth, especially if the populace rather talk about culture wars.
