I work in cybersecurity and risk management, and the biggest problem we face (and why hacking happens all the time), is that it’s SO much easier to look good vs be good, when it comes to risk management. Decisions you make now, won’t manifest a result for a long enough time so people aren’t tracking cause and effect and responsibility. So those who chose the least expensive, quickest, and simplest solutions will win every time. And the more diligent people will get tossed out with the trash and left for dead. (The same is also true with many other fields)

That is unless management has experience in risk management and is well setup to monitor failures. For example at a bank. But excellence in risk management is a rarity. Especially in politics.

And take a look what’s happening in our country right now. We can’t even agree on who won the last presidential election. How we gonna solve something far more complicated like global warming.??
