I’m a software architect - I was a software engineer, and now they work for me (they implement my designs). Most of them geek out so badly, they seem like they’re genetically incapable of seeing the big picture - building what customers want, good UX, designing to allow features to be added later, managing risk, making it secure and robust . Their level of stupidity and ignorance in this realm is staggering. Truly hard to believe - if they were really smart they would see it and respect it. And they do neither.

I’ve gotten to really hate their insular tunnel vision. I had to hire a professional coach because my hatred of their attitude (thinking they’re smarter than they are) was irritating me every day to the point it was coming across in my attitude. We’ll actually, I have to be a hardass, otherwise they go off into the weeds…you can’t ask them nicely or coach them, you have to force them to look at the big picture..then audit their work, then hold them accountable.

It’s REALLY annoying. Well, I guess that’s why they pay me well.
