In my experience as an environmental lobbyist, we certainly get what we deserve when it comes to all this heat. We had ZERO support from so many people who claimed they care, but wouldn't lift a finger when it came to us asking for their support. I mean NOTHING. They rather watch their favorite TV shows and post and blog about the cultural wars, guns, abortion (the distractions politicians have been dishing out for decades, sometimes centuries), to make themselves feel important.

It's true that the system (e.g. Media, lobbying, electoral system) is structured to manipulate. But when I was a kid it didn't take long for me to realize that so many people were falling for the grift. The bottom line, is if you had to point to the #1 reason why we are in the situation and what we can about it. Just 1 reason. It's the populace, how could it be anything else.
