I’ve met a lot of these people, had dinner with them, hung out with them at private clubs. Here is what they think:
1) CEO’s. They understand the problems, but they don’t think there is much they can do about it, because if they did, their Board of Directors would fire them for not putting the company first, which sadly, they are legally required to do.
2) Politicians: they’re mostly clueless, and if they understand there is a problem, they don’t have enough experience to know on how to solve it. They’re too busy raising money.
3) Lobbyists: they’re like attorneys, they represent the interests of those who pay them, and they have zero problem with that. What is right for the country is TOTALLY irrelevant
4) Politicians Aides: They are by far the smartest. But they know the game and are mostly focused on the needs of their big donors. They’re younger and try to spend a little time wiggling the “right things” through, but that usually gets beat out of them well before their later 20’s. Pretty soon they realize how much easier it is to just going in the direction of the cash river.
So who’s in charge?
We are!!
