Musk’s failure in his implementation was so epic you gotta wonder what he’s smoking and if Zuck is smoking the same thing. It appears that Musk wanted to collect the verification money without actually doing any verification..Ie to just pocket the money without actually thinking about what verification means in the context of social media. Because that would actually take work to think it through, you would have to come up with a policy, and spend money to do the verification. And that would eat into timelines and margins.

We know Musk isn’t that stupid. But he is full of hubris and desperation. And that makes people really stupid. I wonder if Zuck will make the same mistake.

If they can’t get this SIMPLE concept right, then how are we going to trust them with some FAR more complicated topics like AI, deep fakes etc.
