One key thing I learned from lobbying is that most issues are way too complex for anybody in government to understand them. And tech like AI, social media, and security for sure has no way to get through their noggin. It’s much easier to simply keep track of what your donors want in a bill, for example.

And if there is a healthy competitor to a lobbying group things can balance out.
