People don’t want romance because then their potential partner would know lot more about then, and they would be dumped for not being the perfect person that so many people want. Or they would have more depth than what is expected and they would get dumped. Most people don’t want to date real people, despite what they say. It’s easier to keep it simple and go for the sex first and see if that works out.
