Points make sense. My view is that there are so many variations of “trans” or “gender variant ” that I agree it’s largely pointless to make issues that define these things a central issue. What is central is protecting people who don’t fit into the two gender molds that our society has created.

I’ve been to many meetings discussing gender issues and I often run into the same polar opposite arguments. My assertion is that the best things a trans person can do for the community is to show up to a mainstream event and just be yourself and be positive and friendly. You don’t need to do anything else. People have to first like you. Then trust you. Then they will eventually be interested in your struggles. Vs many who start off with their demands. I’m fortunate in that I can do this, and I recognize that many people can’t do this, but it’s important to try and make this a primary objective.

Organizing a grass roots movement is exceedingly difficult due to competing interests and egos (I was a lobbyist and activist). So we’ll need some very strong leaders who are positive, friendly, charismatic, and wise.
