Problem is that job interviews are often about your knowledge of frameworks, algorithms, coding, etc, as these things are easy to test. Also the younger generation programmers who do a lot of the interviewing are extreme biased against more experienced developers for a variety of reasons — they don’t know any better, they’re arrogant and feel threatened, they see the world through a simple lens, etc. For example many interviews/tests include much detail on data science and analytics, regardless of the type of software engineering job you applying for (eg this stuff doesn’t matter for most work, eg: UI, low level OS work, designing API’s etc)But since it’s a hot topic, many companies just can’t help themselves from filtering out people who don’t know it well, thus losing the opportunity to recruit a lot of good talent and have a diverse team. But then again most don’t want a diverse team, they want a bunch of young white men.
