Starting off with the fact that many people are using this topic as a way to get attention, get power, coupled with their confusion and fear about the topic.

It's pretty much impossible to have a conversation about something when this other BS is in the way. And doing it in a public forum, it's double impossible.

We could spin our wheels trying to describe our definitions, hoping that this helps people understand an extremely complex topic. But the bottom line is that our online world divides us probably more than it unites or or helps us understand each other.

Honesty on all around would be great, but I think you need to meet people in person, get to know them and trust them before you can have any more deep and honest conversation. Sadly, I don't see how this can easily be done, unless people live in a big city and they purposely go out to meet people.
