That’s the nature of social media sadly. Most issues are like this. For example trans issues and abortion have this in common. If you had the time and the forum to meet people, get to know them a tiny bit, and get to debate without having a large audience (perceived or otherwise) watching you, you might both actually learn something and find you have much in common and then respect your differences.

But sadly we get very little time to do this, and the trolls run things.
