The alternatives to capitalism are shit unfortunately. Many/most people are lazy and unfocused and have a sense of entitlement. I have experienced this time and time again in organizations I was managing where people were getting paid below a standard rate or not at all (performing arts, political movements, community service) . Time and time again I’ve had to pay people a full rate to get anything done well. And the more expensive they are in general, the better work they do.

Our problem is politics getting infected by the concentration of power and the public not getting involved in politics, again because they’re not getting paid. Paid lobbyists are very effective. If people watched less of their stupid TV shows, maybe they would realize that politics is not a spectator sport. Then we could lobby the government for a more balanced capitalism.
