The biggest culprit is the aggregate American populace who listens to the crap spoon fed to them. I was lobbyist, they all joke that the American populace has no right to complain because they are not engaging in the political process other than to jump on the Hamster Wheel of the drama being spoon fed to them, and keeping the wheel spinning.

Looks like democracy isn’t working. But as Churchill said, maybe it’s better than all the alternatives.
