The challenge being of course how do we prevent populism and demigods from turning that into a worse shit show. The political parties used to be a force to prevent that, but they’ve been infected and need to be discarded. So even if we went with direct democracy and ditched the two parties, we would probably still need some kind of new “party” or organized groups to get consensus and prevent chaos. Even George Washington couldn’t stop parties from forming. (Well especially after he died)

I will be up to us, probably the younger generation to determine if democracy is viable - will thrive vs an autocratic society (eg China), which is turning out to be pretty effective (from a survival point of view….. but this of course remains to be seen).

It also remains to be seen if the younger generations will organize and reach out to wise elders for support or collectively go down the rat hole of living in a social media driven fantasy world, leaving the planet and our futures to the autocrats.
