The most insidious thing about Fascist behavior and those who exhibit it at a smaller scale (eg corporate politics, personal relationships) is they truly believe their own lies. I know because i have numerous friends and associates who have gone down the dark side.

They twist reality to make it conform to the narrative that puts them at the center attention or deflects blame away from them after a massive screwup.
