The vast majority of people who talk about this are focused on what looks good. Actual impact on carbon footprint is sadly almost completely irrelevant: the science, engineering, economics, distribution, and human behavior is too complicated and reducing actual carbon footprint just doesn’t have the financial rewards vs selling a bunch of misleading BS.
