Recently, I moved from Engineering to Marketing, eager to sell by telling a good story, an authentic story about the product from a marketing perspective. It was very difficult to do that from an organizational perspective, because the Marketing people were so used to feeding bullshit to their customers, and so detached from their customers and understanding the product, they rejected anything that was authentic because it wasn’t full of their usual BS hot air. This is a very significant problem, because such people are so used to bullshit, they wouldn’t recognize a good authentic idea. They don’t even know what it is. The problem is less about knowing to do this vs dealing with mediocre people who will resist you.

I’m back in Engineering because i couldn’t tolerate being around people who lived in fantasy and politics…a festering breeding ground of mediocrity.
