There is a very simple answer – the road to hell is paid with good intentions. We know the constitution has been relatively stable because this country is still here and we haven’t had another Civil War quite yet. Yes, it needs to be updated but to create a brand, new constitution could create all kinds of problems that we’re not aware of. Just think about the way human beings develops as an embryo - first they look like like a fish and then they morph into a human being because our gene are additive, and incremental to what we already know works.
