We have the intelligence and motivation to learn how to split the atom and create the nuclear energy industry. Yet we can’t seem to grasp a basic concept like total cost as described in this post (eg carbon, net energy, depletion of resources). Yea it’s complicated, but not any more than splitting the atom and delivering the power to your toaster.

Now what might that be that we can’t seem to grasp this? Well obviously because we don’t have the motivation to do so.
