Yea there are broadly two classes of people (men in this context). Those who bitch at everything little thing. And there are there those who bitch generally only when something is truly out of wack. It’s hard to separate these groups and tell when something really is out it wack for example consider these two impacts of something like “#metoo”

  1. One guy is upset when women talk about the pains of dealing with being raped
  2. Another guy is upset because some of the women he works with don’t trust him simply because he’s a man and he’s seen this before at times (and lets just say for the purposes of this illustration that there is truth in this statement and he’s not an oblivious asshole)

# 1 is Not OK

#2 is reasonable

In a divided environment, like we have on the Internet, the #2 legitimate scenario will be often ignored or thrown into the #1 category. (Ie I it will automatically be assumed that he’s an oblivious asshole because he’s a man…adding insult to injury)

And it goes both ways. Men and women will do it to each other because we are tribal creatures and the Internet is making us more tribal, reversing years of progress. Or maybe just enabling what is already there because our global organization is more fluid with social networking
