You were spared the part about the agony of growing up in an environment where if you were not just like everybody else (eg watched dumb TV shows and chatted about it endlessly, focused on sports if you’re a boy, fashion if you were a girl, took pride in being stupid and ignorant) you were isolated and ridiculed.
